easyJet with a baby: rules for pushchairs, seats and baby milk
Key facts
Short answer: easyJet takes babies from 14 days old, charges £25 per flight for a baby on your lap, and lets each infant or child take two items free in the hold (such as a pushchair and car seat). A lap infant gets one changing bag up to 45 × 36 × 20 cm, and baby milk is allowed in the cabin in containers up to 2 litres.
Flying easyJet with a baby or toddler? Here is everything easyJet's own help and fees pages say about infant fees, seats, pushchairs, car seats, bags and baby milk, checked 17 October 2026. Rules change, so confirm with easyJet before you fly.
Quick answers
- Who counts as an infant: babies from 14 days to under 2 years. Babies under 14 days old can't fly.
- Lap infant fee: £25 per infant, per flight (easyJet's fees and charges page).
- Turns 2 during the trip? If your child is over 2, or turns 2 while you're away, you need to book them a separate seat.
- How many babies per adult: up to two infants, but at least one of them needs their own seat and a suitable car seat.
- Early boarding: families travelling with children under 5 board early.
- Free baby kit: up to two items per infant or child go in the hold free, such as a pushchair, travel cot or car seat.
- Changing bag: a lap infant gets one changing bag up to 45 × 36 × 20 cm, under the seat in front.
- Pregnant? easyJet says you can fly until the end of your 35th week (32nd for multiples) without a medical certificate.
Seats: lap infant or their own seat
Your baby can sit on your lap for the infant fee, or you can buy them their own seat. easyJet says these infant seats can't be booked online, so you need to contact its Customer Service team.
easyJet allows one lap infant per row of three seats, and you can't sit in a restricted seat (for example, by an emergency exit) when travelling with an infant. There are no family seating areas, so you can buy seats anywhere you like.
If you don't pay for seats, check in early. Check-in opens 30 days before departure, and easyJet recommends checking in no later than 7 days before you fly. Seats are allocated first come, first served, but easyJet says it will always seat each child under 12 close to an adult on the booking.
Take-off and landing: lap belt, car seat or CARES
- On your lap with an infant extension seat belt. easyJet recommends forward-facing or the cradled position for take-off and landing.
- In a car seat if your baby has their own seat. Only forward-facing car seats are allowed on board, the crew must be able to fix it safely to the aircraft seat, and you bring your own (easyJet has none on board).
- In a CARES harness for children of 10 to 20 kg and 100 cm or under who can sit upright alone, usually about 1 to 4 years. Contact easyJet's Special Assistance team first, as it may not work on every seat.
- Booster seats can't be used for take-off, landing or when the seat belt signs are on, but can go in the hold free.
Bags for your baby
A baby on your lap gets only a changing bag (max 45 × 36 × 20 cm), stowed under the seat in front. A baby with their own seat gets the same cabin and hold allowance as an adult: one small cabin bag plus a changing bag (each max 45 × 36 × 20 cm), or a large cabin bag (max 56 × 45 × 25 cm) as well if you buy one.
A standard Trunki (46 × 20.5 × 31 cm) can come on board under the seat in front; larger Trunkis go in the hold.
On top of your cabin bags, each infant or child can take up to two of these into the hold free: travel cot, pushchair, double pushchair, buggy, car seat, collapsible or non-collapsible pram, booster seat or baby back carrier. Drop them at Bag Drop, or keep them to the gate, where easyJet collects them and returns them at baggage reclaim.
Want the pushchair in the cabin instead? easyJet says it must fit the overhead locker at no more than 56 × 45 × 25 cm, including wheels and handles, and you must buy it as a large cabin bag.
Baby food, milk and water
You can bring baby food, baby milk and sterilised water in your cabin bag when travelling with an infant: formula, breast milk, soya milk for babies, cow's milk for babies, sterilised water in a baby bottle, bottles, breast pumps and baby food.
easyJet says the 100 ml liquid limit at some airports doesn't apply to these, as long as each container holds no more than 2 litres, and you can bring as much as you need for the trip. Security may ask you to taste it. Flying without your baby? Check your airport's own rules.
At the airport and on board
- You'll need to take your child out of the pushchair to go through security.
- There are baby changing facilities at the front and rear of the plane, but no nappies or wipes on board, so bring your own.
- Breastfeeding is welcome on board at any time.
- If you bring a car seat on board, you'll carry it to baggage reclaim before trolleys are available, so pack light.
Adding a baby to a booking
You can add an infant online: log in to Manage Bookings, choose the booking, then use 'Add infant' and pay the fee. To remove an infant, contact easyJet's Customer Services team.
